Are our young graduates employable?
The Information Technology Industry is one of the most important sources of employment today. There is a huge demand for talented and employable professionals and the IT industry is looking at our Educational Institutions to provide the same. One the other hand thousands of graduates are passing out from our educational institutions, higly educated but least employable. The industry laments that employable people are not available, whereas the common refrain of our students is that they are not getting the jobs.
Current Scenario
The professionals are lacking in soft skills like effective communication, creativity, decision making and also have limited exposure to current trends and developments taking place in the industry.
What are the solutions?
The professionals should be trained effectively in soft skills. The academic curriculum should be updated to include specialized workshops on Softskills. IT should encourage more Industry and Academic interactions.
The curriculum should include topics on latest technologies, trends and additional emphasis should be given to strengthen Interpersonal skills and personality development.
What is your take on that?
